Who we are

SelfSignal is made by a small team building educational self-discovery tools. We write reflective tests and plain-language guides about the patterns people repeat — in relationships, at work, with their emotions, and with their boundaries. We are writers, product builders, and pattern nerds, not a clinic. That distinction matters, and we try to make it visible on every page.

How our tests are built

Every SelfSignal test starts with a single behavioural question: what do people actually do when this pattern shows up? From there, we write original questions — we do not copy items from clinical instruments or other quizzes. Each question is designed to surface a real choice you have faced, not an abstract trait you have to rate yourself on.

Your answers are scored across four possible outcome patterns per test. Rather than adding up a single "score," each answer nudges one or more patterns, and the strongest signal at the end becomes your result. No result is a diagnosis, a grade, or a verdict — it is a description of the pattern your answers leaned toward.

Tests are not finished when they launch. We iterate on questions, wording, and result descriptions based on user feedback: where people drop off, which questions feel confusing or leading, and which results people tell us did or did not land. When something is unclear, we rewrite it.

What SelfSignal is not

SelfSignal tests are not clinical screeners. They do not diagnose any condition, and they are not a substitute for professional advice, therapy, or medical care. Results describe patterns in your answers — nothing more. If you are wondering whether a pattern in your life points to something that needs professional attention, please read our guide to using SelfSignal responsibly, which explains when a licensed professional is the right next step.

How our articles are produced

Articles on the SelfSignal blog are written and reviewed by our editorial team. When we reference research or established frameworks, we cite the real sources as text at the end of the article so you can look them up yourself. We do not fabricate statistics, invent studies, or attribute claims to research that does not exist. If a number appears in our writing, it came from a source we can name.

We also make mistakes, and we would rather fix them than defend them. If you spot an error — factual, sourcing, or otherwise — write to us at info@self-signal.com and we will review it and correct the page.

Our honesty commitments

If any page on this site falls short of the standards above, that is a bug — and we would genuinely like to hear about it.
